Botox Injections for Beauty, First Check the Safety

Botolinum toxin or Botox better known as beauty treatment without surgery. In the world of beauty, Botox is used primarily for anti-aging treatments. Botox works by removing wrinkles, especially on the forehead and around the eyes, and can be used to improve certain parts of the face such as forming lips, sticking out the nose, enlarging the shape of the eye. Generally, Botox is safe if injected in small amounts by a doctor. Injections directed directly at the target make it no effect on other muscles. However, Botox itself is actually a poison produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Botox as a temporary treatment for removing wrinkles on adult facial skin. In Indonesia, Botox is officially registered as a muscle relaxant in the category of hard drugs that can only be purchased by prescription from a doctor.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox works by blocking nerve activity in muscles, as a result, muscle activity decreases temporarily and muscles become paralyzed. In the field of beauty, Botox is injected by doctors specifically on the skin parts of the body that need to be treated, such as wrinkles on the skin. Wrinkles that are usually treated with Botox injections are lines of wrinkles between the eyebrows, at the outer edges of the eyes and wrinkles on the forehead. In addition to beauty, Botox injections are also given to treat other health conditions such as hyperdrosis, cervical dystonia, lazy eye, migraine, bladder dysfunction, or eye twitching. Generally, the results of the injection will be felt in a few days to 14 days. Meanwhile, its effectiveness will end in 3-6 months. The amount, dose, and area of the injection depends on the patient's response to therapy and his health condition. After treatment, patients may be at risk of certain discomforts such as swelling or bruising of the facial skin, dry eyes, or dizziness. In addition, drooping eyelids or ptosis are very common complications after Botox injections. People with ptosis have decreased upper eyelids, where this condition can occur in one or both eyes.
